Saxon Mortgage parent company Morgan Stanley agreed to pay millions of dollars to the state of Massachusetts to end an investigation into its role in loaning billions to a company that gave mortgages to unqualified borrowers.

ON in Massachusetts said: “On Feburary 12th, 2010, I received a letter from Saxon Mortgage stating I was approved for the HAMP loan modificiation program. My wife and I were so excited. We couldn’t believe we’d made it through the trail period between Sept.-Nov., 2009. We had a little problem with health issues in Dec., 2009, but got through it. Now, after so much hassle, we were going to get a fresh start. Or, so we thought!

D in Massachusetts said: “My husband contacted Saxon regarding a modification program under HAMP and to see if we qualified. We were sent a packet in the mail and read the fine print that states we would be reported to the credit agencies as delinquent during the trial period.

MA in Indiana/Florida said: “I currently reside in Indiana, but I have a house in Florida that is in foreclosure. Saxon holds the mortgage. I fell behind on the payments because of a hardship. In October, my realtor and I submitted a short-sale offer. Initially, Saxon did not tell us that the paperwork had to be submitted all at the same time.
